6 I've had interest in computers ever since I turned 15 or so. My first machine was a [Commodore 64](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_64), mostly for playing computer games. But I did a bit of BASIC programming, too.

8 The second machine I owned was a [Sharp MZ 3500](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharp_MZ) that was abandoned at my dad's workplace. Since there were no games available for that machine, I turned to programming - more BASIC [dBASE](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DBase), and [Turbo Pascal](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo_Pascal).

10 Later, I got in touch with [NeXTSTEP](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NeXTSTEP) but I never owned one of these stylish black boxes. However, hacking [Objective-C](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Objective-C) really opened my mind to object oritented programming.

12 After the death of NeXT I had a short episode on Macs (even owning a blue and white [Power Mac G3](http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g3/specs/powermac_g3_350_bl.html)) but I did not like the evolution of OSX into a consumer os so I turned to Linux on the desktop.

14 Programming-wise I did what almost everybody did back in 1997 ... I tried [Java](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_%28programming_language%29) and although I did not like the language much, I stuck because the day job required Java.

16 Today I'm still in the Java business but I also hack a bit in [Python](https://www.python.org/) and JavaScript.
